About Blank Slate Textiles

As far back as I can remember, I have been obsessed with the handmade afghans my family had accumulated -- their loopy, spongy textures, bold color combinations, and the seemingly endless design possibilities. But even more than their material value and personal appeal, I was drawn to the lasting legacy these textiles have; my grandmother passed away before I was born, but I'm able to have a sense of closeness with her through the afghan she made that was passed down to me. I'll treasure that blanket always.

For me, fiber is an artistic pursuit.  Drawing inspiration from the characteristics and textures of organic fiber, my aim as an artist is to create textiles that call attention to the ways we embellish, armor, and protect ourselves in relation to our surroundings. Moreover, my hope is to inspire creativity, play, and imagination, while simultaneously exploring the broad meanings of personal identity, beauty, and otherness.

I hope you'll  join me in creating a lasting legacy through handmade textiles.
